about

Galvanized and largely completed after reading Paul McCartney’s recent ‘The Lyrics’ book, J Scott Bergman put together the new Disarmers album as a love letter to songwriting. 'The transcendence that art can give you when times are tough was the mindset going in' he says.

Original 1970s inspired rock songs the seeds of which came from melodies remembered from dreams and recorded into a bedside iPhone. The songs take shape with interweaving electric guitars driven by Mike Fonte and David Green of former LA rock band Los Abandoned.

J Scott Bergman is a long time Los Angeles resident and believe it or not possesses a Private Investigators license. The yin and yang of his life making music and running his own small business he says was once seen as a disadvantage. Now he considers it a blessing. ‘My music is my best grounding force and a source of pure fun. I just follow the muse and work hard to tune in and translate its message. With a business so different and separate from music and also a source of income, it allows me to make art for arts sake and without agenda. I hope others enjoy the songs but they must bring a happy tear to my own eye first'.

JSB has been played on SiriusXM radio and has had songs placed in movies and TV such as the early 2000s hit series Skins UK where his song Wonderful Thing accompanied a battle scene between two twin sisters. Not something he could have planned on and actually never knew it was on the show until he was contacted by fans in Europe he never knew he had.

Drummer Marshall Vore stopped by the studio when Bergman was mastering Disarmers with David Jones at Wasatch Studios in West LA. ‘He sat at the console and listened to the song One Foot On The Mountain despite his very hectic day. He took the time which I appreciated. The synchronicity of his appearance and palpable excitement for the song I took as a good sign’.

And yes, the song brought a tear to Bergman’s own eye first.
